Ten Year Anniversary for Prominent Science Bowl Competition

How does a mid-size technology company make a significant impact on technology education? What does it take to make a lasting contribution to the community? These are some of the questions Solugenix asked itself nearly a decade ago when one of the company’s goals was to become an instrument for building a promising future and generating jobs.

The opportunity came by way of the Arizona Science Bowl. At the time, there was no middle school Science Bowl event happening in the state and on a national level, it was quickly falling behind in terms of STEM education.

What started in 2007, as a small, fledging science and math event for middle school students has transformed into the largest and most prominent academic competition in the State of Arizona. Several hundred competitors travel from all parts of the state to compete.

This year marks the tenth year that Solugenix has sponsored and organized the Arizona School Science Bowl, in partnership with the Arizona Technology Council Foundation and ASU New College. At the events for middle and high school students on February 20th and March 5th, 60 teams tested their knowledge of science and compete for the first-place prize and a trip to the National Science Bowl in Washington, DC, April 29 through May 4.

The regional and national Science Bowl events encourage students to pursue studies of math and science, provide awareness of future career options in STEM, and deliver a venue for exercising their achievements. Each year, Solugenix continues to be a proud supporter of the regional event and promote STEM education.
